30th Class Reunion for Class of '82

By Louis D’Souza

On 1st December 2012, the Class of 1982 reunited after 30 years at the lovely Oei Tiong Ham Lobby at NUS Law. It was truly a night of a thousand stars with 42 (out of 73 members) of the Class and 14 lecturers present – the highest for a class reunion! It was indeed a legend reborn.

Smiles, raucous laughter interspersed with handshakes and hugs filled the hall while the band played and wine flowed.

The buffet spread was largely ignored in favour for friends, faces and memories.

The night was profoundly meaningful in so many ways.

Some lecturers took turns to recall their memories of the class. The class reflected their gratitude by giving a standing ovation to their lecturers.

Members of the class, which comprised of distinguished members of the legal profession like, V K Rajah JA, AG Steven Chong, Davinder Singh SC and Jimmy Yim SC also took turns to reminisce about the heady law school days.

Andrew Phang JA earnestly reminded the class how they looked after each other and how some of them spent the term holidays helping some weaker members of the Class pass the re-examinations. This spirit continued when Toh See Kiat persuaded the Class to part with their money to the tune of S$225,000 (and still counting) to start a Bursary. That would be the highest for a class reunion!

A photo montage by Louis D’Souza provided a nostalgic stroll down memory lane. The evening was fantastically helmed by the Master of Ceremonies, Prof Low Kee Yang.
