NUS Law Careers Fair 2014

The annual NUS Law Careers Fair, held on 12 February 2014 at the Bukit Timah Campus, saw an impressive participation of 24 law firms and organisations and was attended by 300 students. The Fair provides students the invaluable opportunity to network with law practitioners and learn more about internships, training contracts and their prospective career choices.

Besides information booths where students interacted with the many lawyers and HR professionals present, nine of the participating firms/organisations also conducted hour-long interactive seminars for about 150 students.

The Law Careers Fair Chairperson, Samuel Koh ’16 strongly believes in the merits of a successfully-run Careers Fair. He remarked: "The Law Careers Fair is an important fixture on every law student's calendar each year. Hence, I was extremely determined to make it a success. I was fortunate to be assisted by a team of responsible and reliable committee members who volunteered their time to ensure that planning was impeccable. I am heartened and satisfied that the fair has been very well-received this year.”

Mr Kenneth Leong, a partner with WongPartnership LLP shares: “The Law Careers Fair was a useful platform for us to engage students looking to embark on their legal careers. There is no better opportunity to interact with them on a personal basis, and to better appreciate their concerns regarding life as practice trainees. It also allowed us to share with them our experience as practitioners of the law.”

Many students found this Law Careers Fair a very beneficial one. May Ann Khoo ’16, is amongst them: "The afternoon at the Law Careers Fair was certainly time well spent. Besides the valuable insights and practical advice I gleaned from the seminars, I am grateful to have had the opportunity to speak to lawyers who personally took time off to join us at the fair."
