Class of '85: 25th Anniversary ReunionThe Class of 1985 organises another reunion - and believe it or not, this one was even better than the last! On 9 July 2010, the class of ’85 descended on the historic Senior Police Officers’ Mess at Mount Pleasant Road; venue courtesy of Raja T Kumar ’85, our resident Police top brass.
With dinner served up family style, and lots of wine sponsored by Ruby Lee ’85 to lubricate the vocal chords, it felt more like a family reunion – everyone was loquacious, irreverent and loud. Ravi Kumaran ’85, emcee for the evening, had a tough time getting the crowd to pipe down long enough to get the formalities out of the way. Dean Tan Cheng Han SC ’87, who recognized many a senior amongst our lot who had “orientated” him in his freshman year, wisely kept his speech short and sweet.
The best part of reunions is that they allow otherwise respectable persons to (mis)behave like they were young and callow all over again. Some people never grow up (you know who you are!) and we were all the better entertained for it. It was an evening of great jollity, much reminiscing and it put paid to the Bard’s old lie that “There’s many a man has more hair than wit”.
